Francesca Verga, MD
Dr. Francesca Verga received her Medical Degree Cum Laude (Laurea in
Medicina e Chirurgia) from the University La Sapienza di Roma (Italy).
She continued her medical studies at the University of Milan in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Along with her husband, Dr. Michele Verga, a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Assistant Clinical Professor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, she established and manages the Surgery Center Michele Verga M.D. PC. Dr. Verga is a tireless and active promoter of Italian culture and language. She is founder and president of the Women’s Forum of the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce.
She is a member of the Board of the Dante Alighieri Society; Member of the Columbus Citizens Foundation that gives out scholarships to Italian American students in the USA; Member of the Accademia Della Cucina Italiana. Dr. Verga is fluent in Italian, French, English, and Spanish. She is passionate about the arts and is committed to promoting Italian artists in America.
Dr. Verga has been recognized for her humanitarian spirit in assisting Italians who sought medical care in the USA. In 2005, she received the Radio Maria Award for her service to the Italian American community, a distinction she greatly cherishes. Dr. Verga’s relationship with La Scuola is very special; she attended La Scuola when it was first established in New York and was one of its first students to graduate with its Maturitá Scientifica. Dr. Verga has always maintained her ties with La Scuola, assisting with the annual Gala and other special events. For the past six years, she has been a member of the Board of Trustees and now coordinates La Scuola’s public relations efforts.
She lives in NYC with her husband, Michele, and their son Fabrizio.
