Biography

Garden School, Jackson Heights, NY 1991-present
Headmaster
Supervise the faculty and administration of this 87-year old Nursery through Grade 12
Co-ed, college preparatory school and its ancillary summer and after-school programs.
Coordinate and approve all curricula and programming, from the early childhood
classes through high school coursework. Interact daily with students in all grades.
Participate as needed in disciplinary matters and meet with lower and upper division
parents as requested. Serve on both the Board of Trustees and the Executive Board of the
Parent-Teacher Association. Supervise business affairs, including budget, finance and
long-range fiscal planning. Coordinate all administrative activities. Approve and
facilitate all hiring and firing for both school and summer program faculty and staff.
Manage the budgets for all programs and supervise maintenance of the extensive
physical plant. Serve as Director of the Summer Program. Teach AP English.
The Walden School, NYC, NY
Head of School 1987-1991
Supervised the faculty and administration of a Pre-K through Grade 12 school. Actively
involved in all elements of classroom management, curriculum and long-range planning.
Coordinated the construction of the new building on West 88th Street. Led the team
completing the merger with New Lincoln School (1988) and coordinated the asset
transfer to The Day School (1991). Taught English in grades 7-12.
Head of Upper School 1980-1987
Managed and mentored a large staff of teachers across all subjects. Responsible for all
disciplinary as well as curricular issues. Served as liaison between high school faculty
and the Head of School. Taught English in grades 7-12.
