MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL

MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
Dear Parents,
I am pleased to write the first Friday Memo of the school year. The Board of Trustees, Faculty and Staff join me in extending a warm welcome to new and returning families.
These first few days have been exciting for all. It was indeed a pleasure to see children greet each other affectionately and talk about their summer vacations. New children (this year, we registered 34 new students) seem to be getting acclimated comfortably in their new school environment. At the Upper School, Mr. Prater coordinated the first student assembly of the year, and, in both schools, teachers are busy scheduling the first educational field trips for our students.
This evening, La Scuola Community will have an opportunity to meet, thanks to the generosity of the members of the Parent Association who organized a welcome reception at the 67th Street School.
I want to thank the custodial staff for ensuring that the two school buildings would be clean and ready to welcome the children. At the 96th School, Mr. Torossian arranged for the building to be painted, light fixtures and furniture to be cleaned and updated. He also purchased brand new laptops for the children. The computers are a gift from the members of the Parents Association. We are thankful for their thoughtfulness and generosity.
Teachers are preparing to meet parents in the upcoming curriculum nights. Please see the dates in another section of the Friday Memo. Curriculum nights offer an opportunity for parents to learn about the curriculum and meet the teachers.
I look forward to meeting you all this evening.
My best regards,
Maria Palandra, PhD
Head of School
