La Vita a la ScuolaLife at La Scuola
When you choose a school for your child, you are also choosing the community that will shape their experience—and yours. La Scuola’s bicultural identity attracts an international, multicultural community who foster an authentically Italian spirit of family and belonging. Our warm and nurturing school environment inspires students to love language and learning, and to appreciate the many cultures represented by our teachers and families. Principles of equity, respect, and inclusion naturally shape the life of our bilingual school.
Our values and spirit as a community are sustained through continued engagement and collaboration. We offer a host of curricular and co-curricular activities that allow students to develop their interests, connect socially, and build strong relationships with one another. New York City and our Upper East Side neighborhood are integral to our students’ school experience.
We explore the city’s resources through field trips and also volunteer with nearby organizations that serve our New York City neighbors, including Riverside Park Conservancy, NY Common Pantry, and The Doe Fund, among others.
Our diverse and committed parent body play a vital role in shaping the tightly knit community that defines the La Scuola experience. Our Parents Association plans a range of events and programming that support the school’s mission and strengthen ties between and among families, faculty, and administrators.
We are governed by an independent committee of parents elected biannually by the parent body. Each grade is assigned a Class Representative who serves as a spokesperson for their class and are thus a crucial link between the Parents Association and the parent body. They work to foster communication and create a sense of goodwill and community. We encourage parents from all grade levels to get involved.
